Spectrum Comms with John Holland Group and Transport for NSW
Project Objectives
The Tamworth Intermodal Rail Line involved reactivating a non-operational track between West Tamworth to Westdale to facilitate rail access to the proposed Tamworth Intermodal Rail Terminal. The project involved removal and replacement of 5km of railway track and ballast, restoration and replacement of culverts and bridges, upgrading and activation of three level crossings, permanently closing a pedestrian level crossing and the installation of fencing and access gates along the length of the restored track.
Our Role
Spectrum Comms was engaged to prepare a Community Relations Plan to support the delivery of communication and engagement activities to ensure residents and businesses adjacent to the rail corridor were kept informed. It also involved liaising directly with a household located inside the rail corridor to relocate them and demolish the property. This work included:
- Preparing and distributing monthly construction updates to 350 properties.
- Preparing and distributing ad-hoc construction notifications for out of hours and night work, including doorknocking.
- Managing complaints and enquiries in accordance with Transport for NSW (TfNSW) processes.
- Updating stakeholder information in Consultation Manager.
- Attending regular project communication meetings with TfNSW and John Holland.
- Liaising with TfNSW and local MPs to coordinate on-site media events.
- Liaising with the local council to provide up to date project information for their website.
Outcomes
- Project completion in late 2021, ready for connection to the new intermodal facility being built by Qube Logistics.
- Facilitating the successful relocation and rehousing of the household located inside the rail corridor.
