Spectrum Comms with Maitland City Council
Project Objectives
Maitland City Council intends to build three new community facilities within the Eastern Precinct of the Maitland Local Government Area.
Two of the facilities will be in the existing suburbs of Tenambit and Thornton; the third will be in the new urban release area of Chisholm. Each of the three sites and projects are unique, in that the facilities will cater to either new or established neighbourhoods, varying physical contexts, differing population numbers and projected growth.
Our Role
Spectrum Comms was engaged to develop and implement a plan to seek community input to inform development of each design to ensure the needs, aspirations and values of each community was considered and meaningfully incorporated in a way that aligns with architectural design principles. This work included:
- Preparing a Community Engagement Plan to support delivery of engagement throughout development of the concept plans for each facility
- Developing communication collateral including posters, corflutes, DL-size flyers and maintaining the project page on Social Pinpoint.
- Facilitating pop-up stalls in each location, an online survey and an online ideas wall
- Interviews with current and future user groups.
Outcomes
- 367 unique stakeholder interactions including 309 survey responses and 29 comments on the ideas wall.
- Community needs and wants across three unique locations.
- Concept planning is underway with architect.
