Central West Drought Resilience Plan White Paper

Spectrum Comms with Micromex

Project Objectives

The Regional Drought Resilience Planning Program (RDRP Program) is designed to enable small consortia of local governments (and their communities) to better prepare for, respond to and recover from drought. The project is jointly funded through Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund and the NSW Government.

The NSW Central West Consortium consists of Blayney Shire, Cabonne, Cowra, Orange City Council and Weddin Shire councils.   The Regional Drought Resilience Plan (the Plan) was developed in consultation with a range of business and community stakeholders across the consortium to ensure the actions were specific to the Central West region and based on community experiences and learnings.

Micromex was engaged by the consortium to continue community engagement through research, business engagement, a survey and white paper.

Our Role

Spectrum Comms was engaged by Micromex to develop a supplementary workforce and skills white paper. The purpose of the paper is to provide the consortium councils with a public facing document that identifies gaps and proposes actionable solutions aimed at enhancing business resilience.

Outcomes
  • 28 actions for councils and their partners to support communities and businesses through drought.
  • Four key recommendations where councils can deliver, collaborate or advocate to actively promote drought resilience initiatives and make it easier for businesses to access support and facilitate partnerships with education providers.
