Spectrum Comms with Georges River Council
Project Objectives
In preparation for the 2023 tender of a new Domestic Waste Collection Service, Georges River Council aimed to review and improve its waste services across the Local Government Area. The project focused on gaining community insight into current waste practices – including bin collection, recycling, FOGO, bulky waste, illegal dumping and littering – and gauging support for potential service improvements. Clear, targeted engagement was essential to shaping a service that met local needs.
Our Role
Spectrum Comms was engaged to deliver a comprehensive engagement program to inform Council’s waste service review. This work included:
- Developing a Community and Stakeholder Engagement Plan (CSEP).
- Creating promotional materials such as an animated video, posters, social media tiles, media releases and internal staff messages.
- Facilitating two online resident focus groups to explore community concerns.
- Partnering with Micromex Research to deliver a phone survey across the LGA.
Outcomes
- Two online focus groups facilitated with 11 participants.
- Phone survey completed with 400 residents and 50 businesses.
- Insightful data collected to inform waste service improvements.
- High-quality communication assets developed for consultation.
