Spectrum Comms with Symal Infrastructure
Project Objectives
The Cedar Party Creek Bridge project in Wingham is a $39 million infrastructure upgrade to replace the existing bridge at the town’s entrance.
The new structure is being built on the current alignment and elevated to meet or exceed the 100-year flood level, improving flood resilience. A new roundabout at Wynter and Combined Streets will also be delivered as part of the project, improving traffic flow and safety for all road users.
Our Role
Spectrum Comms was engaged to manage community and business engagement throughout the life of the project, including:
- developing and delivering the communication and engagement plan.
- managing the community hotline and inbox and producing quarterly project updates.
- liaising directly with local businesses about construction impacts.
- partnering with a local business post the recent NSW floods to sponsor a fresh food pop-up event for highly affected residents.
- working with major local employers, including the abattoir and bakery, to maintain delivery routes.
- supporting ongoing access to services (swim buses to local pool).
- working with local businesses to manage power outage impacts, including securing a generator for essential services.
- working with the project team to revise road designs where possible to support local business.
Outcomes
- wayfinding signage installed to support business visibility
- since March 2024 the team have had over 80 interactions with 16 local businesses, establishing strong working relationships with resistant business owners through regular in-person updates and tailored support
- drafting 18 community notifications or letters during the construction period
- partnering with business and collaborating with Foodbank to sponsor a local flood relief event
