100 Voices Community Summit 2022

Spectrum Comms with Lake Macquarie City Council

Project Objectives

Lake Macquarie City Council wanted to improve the way they seek out, facilitate and report on public involvement in their community engagement process.

Council understands if they want to improve the way they engage with their communities, they need to involve them in shaping what that needs to look like. The feedback from community would be used to inform development of Council’s new Community Engagement Strategy.

Our Role

Spectrum Comms was engaged to design and deliver a large-scale community summit, bringing together 100 participants from across the local government area to help shape how Council engages with its community. Our work included:

  • Coordinating an expression of interest via unaddressed mail to 10,000 households in Lake Macquarie.
  • Reaching out to approximately 1,400 residents via SMS, email and phone.
  • Promoting the opportunity widely through social media channels.
  • Successfully recruiting 115 diverse participants to take part in the summit.
Outcomes
  • 103 community members and stakeholders attended the summit, reflecting strong local interest and engagement.
  • The event generated valuable insights and practical ideas to guide Council’s future approach to community engagement.
  • Feedback highlighted a clear call for engagement to be genuine, transparent and purposeful — with visible action taken and clear communication of outcomes to those involved.
