Project Objectives

The Mount Murray Rail Loop Extension Project was to extend the existing rail loop at Mount Murray in NSW to allow longer grain and mineral trains to utilise the loop. Work included extending the loop by approximately 300m, installing a new turnout on the existing main line, replacing a culvert and signal relocation.

Our Role

Spectrum Comms was engaged to lead a program of communication activities to keep the local community informed, manage
complaints and enquiries and identify and manage community impacts. This work included:

  • Developing a Communication and Stakeholder Engagement Plan
  • Updating stakeholder information in Consultation Manager
  • Preparing and distributing monthly construction updates to 50 remote properties
  • Preparing and distributing ad-hoc construction notifications for out of hours and night work, including doorknocking
  • Managing complaints and enquiries in accordance with ARTC processes
  • Liaising with directly impacted residents about property access, fencing, utility strikes, flooding and sediment control
Outcomes
  • Stakeholder enquiries and complaints were managed within timeframes
  • 7 constructions notifications distributed by letterbox drop and doorknock
