Support that shows up in practice

In communications and engagement, we spend a lot of time helping organisations listen better, communicate clearly, and bring people with them through change, but what we don’t always talk about is how we do that work together in our own organisation, as a team.

At Spectrum Comms, we’re intentionally building something a little different.

Growth, not perfection

We don’t expect anyone to arrive fully formed, always confident, or never unsure. We believe growth happens when people feel safe enough to ask questions, test ideas, admit when something didn’t work, and try again. That applies whether you’re new to the industry, stepping into leadership, or simply navigating a tricky piece of work.

Sharing strengths and weaknesses

In our work with communities and stakeholders, we encourage honesty and transparency – and we always try to live that internally too.

That means sharing what we’re good at but acknowledging where we’re still learning. We talk openly about challenges, not just successes, celebrating effort and improvement, not just outcomes.

There’s no judgement attached to not knowing something, only curiosity and support.

Support is practical, not just empty promises

Support isn’t a buzzword for us. It shows up in everyday ways, like making space for different working styles and perspectives, taking the time to talk things through and gently challenging each other when needed.

Most importantly, we regularly check in with each other when the work, or life, gets heavy.

We know that when people feel supported, they’re more confident, more creative, and more willing to contribute honestly. That leads to better thinking and better outcomes for our clients.
