MERRYGOEN RAIL LOOP EXTENSION

Project Objectives

The Merrygoen Rail Loop Extension Project was to extend the existing rail loop at Merrygoen in NSW to allow longer trains to operate with only a single relocation of the locomotives. Work included extending the loop by approximately 900m, relocating the existing turnout and catch points,
realignment of tracks on the existing rail line, extension of an existing culvert, earthworks and relocating a level crossing by 650m. Work also included realigning an existing road by approximately 1.3km.

Our Role

Spectrum Comms was engaged to lead a program of communication activities to keep the local community informed,
manage complaints and enquiries and identify and manage community impacts. This work included:

  • Updating stakeholder information in Consultation Manager
  • Developing a Communication and Stakeholder Engagement Plan
  • Preparing and distributing monthly construction updates to 40 remote properties
  • Managing complaints and enquiries in accordance with ARTC processes
Outcomes
  • Stakeholder enquiries and complaints were managed within timeframes
  • 2 construction notifications distributed by letterbox drop and doorknock
